About Zara Order Tracking Service

Zara sells through its stores and through an online store for each market, and an online order has to be delivered within the market or region where it was placed.

Zara runs no delivery fleet, so every parcel is handed to a partner carrier and tracked in that carrier's system. Which partner you get turns on your country and the delivery option you picked, which is why references from the same account can look nothing alike. We identify the carrier from the reference in your shipping confirmation emails.

Zara Order Process & Timeline

Two dates matter on a Zara order and people conflate them: the dispatch date, which starts your return window, and the delivery date, which does not. Here is what happens at each stage:

International Shipping & Tracking

Zara ships to over 200 countries worldwide with varying delivery times, costs, and customs procedures. International shipping uses different carriers depending on destination region, with tracking available through our service for Zara shipments that have a tracking number.

Customs Clearance for International Zara Orders

Customs Documentation: All international Zara shipments include automated customs documentation. The commercial invoice is attached to your package and includes:

• Complete item descriptions (not "clothing" but "women's cotton dress")
• Individual item values in local currency
• Harmonized System (HS) codes for each product category
• Weight, quantity, and country of origin for each item
• Zara's importer of record information for your country

Customs Clearance Process: If your Zara parcel comes from another country, it may have to clear customs before final delivery (parcels moving between EU countries pay no customs duty). This process typically takes 1-3 business days but can take longer during peak seasons or if additional documentation is required. You'll see tracking updates like "Item presented to customs" or "Customs clearance in progress" during this time.

Duties and Taxes: Customs duties and import taxes vary by country and order value. De minimis has narrowed sharply: the US $800 allowance and the EU's €150 threshold have both gone, leaving the UK's £135 as the main survivor. Zara's checkout process displays estimated duties, but final amounts are determined by customs authorities. Most carriers collect duties upon delivery or bill you separately.

Customs Delays and Issues: If customs holds your package, you'll typically receive notification from the carrier or customs authority. Common reasons include missing documentation, incorrect declared values, or prohibited items. Zara's customer service can assist with documentation issues but cannot expedite customs clearance.

Order Number Versus Carrier Reference

Zara issues an order number that identifies the purchase inside your account. No carrier recognises it, so it will not resolve in any tracking tool. The carrier reference arrives with the shipping confirmation and under My Account once the parcel leaves the warehouse.

Zara operates no delivery fleet of its own. Which carrier you get depends on your country and on the delivery option chosen, so the reference format varies between orders even from the same account. Enter it above and the carrier is worked out for you, which saves guessing from the number's shape.

Why a Zara Parcel Goes Quiet

Nothing for the first day or two. A reference is generated at dispatch, and there is often a gap before the carrier's first physical scan. Give it a working day.

A long silence mid-route on an international order. Zara ships a great deal from Spain, and cross-border parcels post fewer scans in transit than domestic ones. Sparse is normal here.

Sitting at customs. No scans are produced during an assessment, so a flat line here reflects the queue rather than a lost parcel.

Shown as delivered, doorstep empty. Look at where the carrier logged it before concluding it was stolen. Store collection orders complicate this further: the delivery scan often fires when the parcel reaches the shop, not when you collect it.

Import Charges on Cross-Border Zara Orders

Two duty-free thresholds stopped applying in 2025 and 2026.

United States: since 29 August 2025 nothing enters duty-free on value alone. The de minimis exemption for imports valued at $800 or less is suspended for all countries, CBP made that suspension indefinite in June 2026 (as of October 2026), and a modest order can attract a charge.

European Union: since 1 July 2026 there is no duty-free floor for goods from outside the EU. A flat €3 duty applies to each item category in a parcel worth up to €150, under an interim arrangement due to run until 1 July 2028 (as of October 2026). Parcels sent from one EU country to another pay no customs duty.

United Kingdom: the £135 threshold still applies. VAT is due below all of these regardless of duty.

Zara Returns & Customer Service

The Return Clock Starts at Dispatch, Not Delivery

This is the single most expensive misunderstanding about Zara, and it works the opposite way round from most retailers.

Your 30 days run from the shipment date on an online order, not from the day the parcel arrives. A delivery that takes a week has already consumed a quarter of the window before you have opened the box. In-store purchases are different again: there the 30 days count from the purchase date on the receipt.

The practical consequence: decide fast. If you order something to try alongside another size, start the return as soon as you know, rather than treating the month as beginning when the parcel landed.

Return Costs Depend on How and Where You Return

The fee attaches to the request, not the garment. Sending three items back under one return request costs the fee once; splitting them across three requests or three parcels can attract the charge each time. Decide on everything before you start the first one.

Faulty goods are treated separately. An item that arrives damaged, defective or not what you ordered at all is not a change-of-mind return. Contact Zara first so the fee is waived, and expect a longer window than 30 days for a genuine fault.

What Happens After You Send It Back

Zara processes a return once the parcel reaches its facilities, and the refund follows to the original payment method. Most of the elapsed time is transit and bank processing rather than Zara sitting on it, which is why a refund can feel slow even when nothing is wrong.

Cash refunds exist only in store. An in-store return of a cash purchase is refunded there and then in cash. Everything else goes back to the card or method you paid with.

Exchanges are not store-only. Online purchases can be exchanged for another size or colour through the website or app. If you need a different size quickly, buying the replacement now and returning the original is faster than waiting on a refund.

Keep the tags and the packaging until you are sure. Items must come back unworn, unwashed and tagged, and the warehouse inspects before approving.

Reaching Zara, and Which Party Owns the Problem

Your account is the fastest route. Order history, returns and refund status all sit there, and raising an issue against the specific order pulls the history with it. Live chat and email back it up.

Match the question to the right party. A parcel in transit, a failed delivery attempt or a disputed delivery belongs to the carrier. A missing item, a refund, a fault or a return belongs to Zara. Taking each to the wrong one is why these cases drag.
